About the Event

I am offering Online Zoom classes for your gourmet Mini Chefs to learn independant cooking in a fun enjoyable way

During the class we will cover 1 key recipe using quality ingredients.  We will informally discuss aspects of nutrition, food science, seasonality and where ingredients originate from where applicable.

This key recipe will be utilising 1 or more essential cooking skill. For this weeks recipe your children will learn how to carefully prepare vegetables and threading onto skewers. They will learn about marinating and how to produce a light fluffy cous cous!

We will be discussing seasonal vegetables at this time of year and what alternatives can be used through out the year according to the seasons.

This zoom lesson is geared towrds children age 7-12 years of age.

These are the ingredients you will require for the recipe:


For the skewers

  • 2 courgettes
  • 1 large red onion
  • 250g halloumi cheese
  • 16 cherry tomatoes 

For the marinade

  • 1 tbsp olive oil 
  • 1 lemon
  • 3-4 sprigs fresh thyme or 1tsp dried thyme
  • 1 garlic clove

For the couscous

  • 200g couscous
  • 200ml kettle-hot water or boiling vegetable stock
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Alternatively If you live locally you can pick up all measured ingredients from MY RAINBOW KITCHEN for an additional cost of 10 pounds

This is the equipment you require for the recipe:

  • 8 wooden skewers
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 knife*
  • 1 garlic crusher
  • 1 teaspoon
  • microplane or fine grater*
  • Baking tray
  • Weighing scales
  • Measuring jug
  • Measuring spoons
  • 1 tablespoon
  • Saucepan with lid


If your child is under 10 years old, I recommend a parent or guardian is present to supervise the child. You should assess your childs cooking ability and the recipe covered and decide whether you need to be present on the zoom or not. Any recipe requiring heat (ie oven hob) or sharp utentsil or equipment (ie knives, graters) carry a risk of accidental injury. These will usually be stated beforehand if required.
