Kids Summer Cook Club - 'Sushi and Coconut Mango Icecream Sandwiches' For 7-11 year olds

About the Event
The class will encourage your child to learn about ‘good’ food and to explore new flavours in an educational and fun way. This Spring & Summer we are growing our own herbs, vegetables and edible flowers. Children will be able to pick and cook using own home grown produce.
During the class we will cover 2-3 recipes using quality ingredients. We will informally discuss aspects of nutrition, food science, seasonality and where ingredients originate from.
Each recipe will be utilising 1 or more essential cooking skill. In this Japanese inspired class the children will learn to make Fresh sushi rice for their Sushi. They will prepare a variety of Seasonal fillings focusing on basic Knife skills. They will then roll their Sushi using a traditional Sushi Mat. For the fresh Ice-cream your children will learn about Fruits and Flavours typical of Japan. They will learn the fundamentals on simple Ice-cream making then bake their own Coconut Macaroons to sandwich their Mango Ice-cream
The children will be encouraged to taste their gourmet creations as well as taking home to share with their families..
