About the Event

Welcome to My Rainbow Kitchen. I am happy to announce my  after school Kids Cook Club focusing on key culinary skills and making some yummy food in the process!

The aim of these classes are to encourage your child to learn about ‘good’ food and to explore new flavours in an educational and fun way. We informally discuss aspects of nutrition, food science, seasonality and where ingredients originate from. Each recipe will be utilising 1 or more keys cooking skill.

This special taster session is  for those children who would like to try a one off after school class. They then would be be able to join the full term club this Autumn term or any time in the future (bookable separately).

During this special Pasta Making Class the kids will be shown how to make fress pasta from scratch. They will then roll their pasta using a Pasta Machine or By Hand and then make either into Taglietelle or Spaghetti. They will make their bolognese sauce using Free range Minced Beef (or Vegemince for Vegetarians) and combining into a tomato based sauce. After boiling the pasta to perfection the children will combine with their sauce and to serve they will top with Parmesan and some home grown Basil.

Guidance and support will be offered throughout I will ensure all kids get their hands dirty, after all what better way is to learn!

For ages: 9 - 13 years old.

Further Information about the Term Time Cook Club:

We aim to cover different cuisines from around the world as well as the British Classics. Dishes will either be savoury to serve as a main course or sweet to serve as dessert. Usually in addition, an accompaniment or sauce will made to complement the dish. Recipes will be decided on a seasonal basis (depending on weather and local seasonal produce).

Classes will focus on special themes according to time of year or a celebration e.g. Halloween, Christmas.

Each class, kids will cook in pairs or as teams and will whip up their very own tasty dish to take home. I will begin the classes with a short demonstration displaying what will be cooked during the class, followed by hands-on cooking for the participants to put their newly found culinary skills to the test.

These classes will be useful for those looking to complete their skill section for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze or Silver.
