About the Event

Welcome to My Rainbow Kitchen. Following a fun-filled autumn & spring term, I am happy to announce Saturday Kitchen will be continuing in the AUTUMN Term (10 weeks) and children will be focusing on key culinary skills and making some yummy food in the process!

The aim of these classes are to encourage your child to learn about ‘good’ food and to explore new flavours in an educational and fun way. We informally discuss aspects of nutrition, food science, seasonality and where ingredients originate from. Each recipe will be utilising 1 or more keys cooking skill.

We aim to cover different International cuisines from around the world as well as the British Classics. Dishes will either be savoury to serve as a main course or sweet to serve as dessert. Usually in addition, an accompaniment or sauce will made to complement dish.

Recipes will be decided on a seasonal basis (depending on weather and local seasonal produce). When completing the registration form please do give all information on your children's dietary habits, intolerances, food likes & dislikes so that the recipes can be adapted to the group.

Classes will focus on special themes according to time of year or a celebration.

This past year we have made Fresh Pasta, Potato Gnocchi, Neapolitan Pizza, Chinese Stir Fries, Mexican Fajitas, Churros, Macarons, Doughnuts & Classic Patisserie.

Next year we plan to cover Bao Buns, Dim Sum (and many more different cuisines from around the world), Different Pastry Dishes (including shortcrust, filo and choux), Picnic and Packed Lunch Ideas and much much more!

Each class, kids will cook in pairs or as teams and will whip up their very own tasty dish to take home. I will begin the classes with a short demonstration displaying what will be cooked during the class, followed by hands-on cooking for the students to put their newly found culinary skills to the test.

Guidance and support will be offered throughout I will ensure all kids get their hands dirty, after all what better way is to learn. For ages: 9 - 16 years old!

These classes will be useful for those looking to complete their skill section for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze or Silver.
